Guillotine cutting is the simplest and most economically advantageous method for cutting sheet metal and producing parts and blanks. Guillotine cutting is one of the types of mechanical cutting of metal with a single cut, which means a straight cut. It only creates parts with straight edges, but with different shapes – rectangle, triangle, square, rhombus, trapezoid.
The main components of the construction of the working machine are the pair of knives (upper and lower), which make a linear cut in the sheet metal in one move – just like scissors, – a clamping device, and a graduated limiter. The knives are mounted at the top and bottom of the machine, with the lower knife remaining motionless while the upper one descends to the material, after the start of the process, under high pressure and with great force. With their help, a metal sheet can be cut with an accuracy of 0.5 to 2 mm, depending on its thickness. The guillotines work both with sheets and with roll material.
