Calibrated steel profiles with a circular section are produced by cold drawing or scraping and calibrated hot-rolled steel. Calibration is a procedure that improves the dimensional accuracy of hot-rolled products, improves the quality of the shape and surface, and improves the physical and mechanical properties of the steel, due to mechanical strengthening. For maximum accuracy of steel calibration, additional grinding, polishing, and other appropriate treatments are used to reduce surface roughness.
Calibrated profiles are mainly used in lathe automatic production and in cold stamping of parts, shafts, axles, spindles, gears, cylinders, bushings, bolts, nuts, etc.
Scraping is carried out on centerless lathes with a special purpose for rough and fine processing of the outer surface of bars and pipes with high efficiency. The machine not only allows the rapid removal of the decarbonized layer, cracks, rust, and other imperfections on the rods, but also achieves high accuracy, especially when processing long rods. The principle of operation is based on the rotation of the head with multiple knives and the translational submission of the workpiece, carried out by pushing and guiding rollers. When equipped with a loading and unloading mechanism, a semi-automatic mode of operation is achieved.
The calibrating machine is a type of press which working part is made of two rotating shafts (one barrel-shaped, the other saddle-shaped) located at an angle to each other. When feeding the rod, it gets pressed by the shafts, they turn it and give it a progressive movement. Laterally, it is bounded by two plates of softer material.
